AT&T Stadium Kicks Off a New School Year
On Saturday, August 12th, AT&T Stadium played host to the third annual Arlington Independent School District’s Back to School Kickoff.
There’s no better way to start a new school year than with fresh new notebooks, backpacks and supplies – and that’s exactly what ten thousand children along with their families were treated to! Each student who registered online received a free backpack with grade-specific school supplies at the Kickoff. Vaccines, haircuts, dental checkups and vision screenings were provided inside AT&T Stadium, overlooking the field, for many attendees who preregistered for the event. Every attendee was also treated to appearances from Dallas Cowboys mascot Rowdy and Dallas Cowboys Rhythm & Blue, who shared the main stage with Fuel Up to Play 60’s smoothie demonstrations – teaching parents how to make yummy, healthy snacks for their kiddos!
When families weren’t getting their backpacks, dancing with Rhythm & Blue, posing for pictures with Rowdy or getting squared away for the new school year, they browsed the outdoor vendor fair with over 80 vendors including Girl Scouts, Special Olympics of Arlington, Arlington Police Department and the Arlington Public Library.
On site to celebrate the Back to School Kickoff were AISD superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos, Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams and Dallas Cowboys Legend Tony Casillas, all of whom expressed their excitement for the new school year and getting off on the right foot.
A special thanks and acknowledgment to the members of the Arlington Independent School District, Junior League of Arlington, the Arlington NAACP, Churches of Arlington, the Gene and Jerry Jones Family North Texas Youth Education Town and the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Arlington Youth Foundation, who worked together to make this event an incredible success!
