Dak Prescott will once again join Carrie Underwood for the opening theme song for NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

Dak is one of only 10 NFL stars that participated in the shoots this summer for Underwood’s show open for the 2018 season.

As the lone Dallas Cowboys’ representative in this season’s open, he is sharing the prime-time spotlight with stars from division rivals within the NFC East.

Four members of the Super Bowl LII champion Eagles make their Sunday Night Footballtheme song debuts:  QB Carson Wentz, TE Zach Ertz, DT Fletcher Cox, and OT Lane Johnson. New York Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley is also featured.

In addition to Wentz, two other NFC quarterbacks also make their NBC show open debuts:  Jared Goff of the Rams, and Kirk Cousins of the Vikings.

Dak is one of only three players returning for the 2018 open that have appeared in previous years with Underwood.  The others are Steelers WR Antonio Brown and Seahawks QB Russell Wilson.

Dak made his SNF debut with Underwood in 2017.  The Cowboys’ were represented the previous year by WR Dez Bryant.

Being featured in the show open is a big deal in terms of visibility for an athlete.  NBC’s Sunday Night Footballhas been the #1 rated show in prime-time television for seven consecutive years.  By finishing in first place in all key metrics again last year, SNF broke a tie with American Idol for the most consecutive years atop the charts since 1950, according to Dan Masonson, Vice President of NBC Sports.

Ironically, Underwood – who is entering his sixth season as the performer for NBC’s show open – came to prominence on American Idolin 1995.  Since then, she has sold over 64 million records worldwide and won seven GRAMMY Awards.

The Dallas Cowboys are currently scheduled for three appearances on NBC’s Sunday Night Football in 2018:  Week 2 (NY Giants @ Cowboys, Sept. 16); Week 5 (Cowboys @ Texans, Oct. 7); and Week 10 (Cowboys @ Eagles, Nov. 4).
