On Monday Cowboys tight end Gavin Escobar and defensive end George Selvie paid a visit to a low-income and predominantly Hispanic elementary school in Dallas, leading a Fútbol Americano PLAY 60 clinic in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Escobar and Selvie were greeted by an eruption of cheers from excited kiddos, as well as an original chant about PLAY 60 with the lyrics demonstrating students’ commitment to leading healthy and active lifestyles. It was a sweet start to an afternoon of sprints, ladders and pass drills PLAY 60-style.

Hispanic Heritage Month will be celebrated throughout the NFL September 15th through October 15th. We were especially excited to see Escobar, who is half Puerto Rican – a fact he proudly lists on his Twitter bio (@GavinEscobar89) – volunteer his time in recognition of the Cowboys’ many Hispanic fans.

(Does Escobar speak Spanish? Not quite, but he does eat a lot of rice and beans, he says!)
