Bleacher Report

Is Dez Bryant… Washed Up?

I have to admit, my one of my favorite Dallas Cowboys, Dez, didn’t perform at his peak this season. Or last.

He had a really poor game in Christmas Eve’s home loss against the Seahawks. His fumble and the interception that deflected off his hands were crushing turnovers – both in terms of result and morale. He admitted that he got frustrated during the game and let the frustration affect his play.  He also admitted that he’s heard the critics questioning his production and whether or not he’s still a top receiver.

However, Dez’s performance just 3 games earlier in the 38-14 home win over the Redskins wasn’t just outstanding, it was historic. His 13-yard touchdown catch in the 4th quarter moved him into sole possession of 1st place on the Cowboys’ All-Time Touchdown Receptions list. Dez has more touchdown catches than Hall of Famer “Bullet” Bob Hayes who totaled 71 in his 10 seasons in Dallas.

Dez and “Bullet” Bob are two of the most prolific scorers in team history. That being said, it’s no secret that Dez has had a rough couple of years… but washed up? Come on, now.

Is Dez Bryant… Left Handed?

Interesting that you ask, but yes. Back in the 2016 season, there was a trick play in which Dez threw a left handed TD pass to Jason Witten to help them beat the Detroit Lions. It was the first TD pass Bryant had thrown since high school and he loved it! In an interview captured by OSU Sports, Bryant said:

It was crazy. A lot of people couldn’t believe it. A lot of people have been telling me, ‘We’ve been waiting on it for the longest. It finally happened.’ I think the most shocking thing was people didn’t know I was left handed. I was like, ‘What? How do you not know I’m left-handed. Of course, I’m left-handed.’ I can do a lot of things with my right hand, too.”

Well there ya go!

Is Dez Bryant… A Franchise Player?

Yes! In March of 2015, the Dallas Cowboys officially placed the franchise tag on wide receiver, Dez Bryant.

In July of that same year, The Cowboys finally reached a long term deal with the star: a five-year, $70 million deal that included at least $45 million in guaranteed money according to and ESPN. This made him the NFL’s second highest paid wide receiver.

Is Dez Bryant… Related to Martavis Bryant?

Negative. Dez is an only child! But he does have two sons! – Zayne and Dez, Jr.

Is Dez Bryant… Related to Kobe Bryant?

Again, negative, but Dez is for sure a Kobe fan! Back in December of 2015, Dez credited the ex-NBA star’s on-court attitude for what inspired him to be himself on the field – the passion and drive he’s channelled to become one of the game’s best ever receivers.

In an interview Dez said, “Kobe, he’s just extremely amazing the way that he approaches the game, the way he goes about things. I honestly feel like the passion that I have –  if this makes sense –  he helped [inspire] without me even speaking to him, but just the way he does things. I don’t know, it made me learn how to control [my emotions] and view [my passion] as something positive instead of people taking it the wrong way.

“I look at him and I just try to figure out what drives him and what keeps him going. I like to surround myself – well, not surround myself, but look at those kind of people and I try to keep those kind of people in my circle.”

Besides that, in April of 2016, after Kobe’s stunning 60 point, career finale game, Dez tweeted about him twice!

That’s some Bryant love right there!
