Who Exactly Is Chris Covington?
Chris Covington was the #193 overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. While he may still be unknown to some, we were on a mission to figure out everything we could about the new rookie linebacker! Here’s what we found.
First of His Kind
Covington was the first athlete from Chicago’s Al Raby High School to earn a Division 1 scholarship in any sport!
The Come Up
While we’ve all heard about Covington’s transition from quarterback to linebacker, no one says it better than Kurt Daniels in his feature article about the rookie. Be sure to check it out here!

30 Year Streak – Broken
In fact, he was the first Indiana University linebacker to be drafted since Van Waiters in 1988!
Room to Grow
The fact that he has limited linebacker experience doesn’t faze new Linebackers Coach Ben Bloom. “For me, it didn’t matter that he only started one year. He was starting in the Big Ten,” said Cowboys linebackers coach Ben Bloom on the power conference’s hard-nosed football reputation. “If anything, it’s a positive that he may be ‘young’ for the position because he’s got skills to develop.” Sounds like coach and player are ready to grow together this season!
