Tyrone Crawford Teams Up with UnitedHealthcare to Give Back
Before hopping a plane back to his motherland of Canada for some vacation time, defensive end Tyrone Crawford joined Cowboys team parter UnitedHealthcare and the Dreambuilders Foundation last week on Wednesday, January 10 to award Voice of Hope Ministries with $10,000 in new gym equipment.
Voice of Hope is a Dallas non-profit that provides after-school and out-of-school care to low income children from pre-K to 12th grade. The donation was made possible by a grant from UnitedHealthcare to Crawford’s Dreambuilders program.
The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the gymnasium, with Crawford and representatives from UnitedHealthcare. Crawford also interacted with the youth as they had the opportunity to play on the new equipment for the first time.
“Today was a great opportunity to be here and present these kids with the tools needed for them to get up and get active,” said Crawford. “It’s important that kids their age eat right and exercise and without the proper resources to do that, then they might not succeed. Through this partnership with UnitedHealthcare and the Dreambuilders Foundation, we are making sure that they have the best chance to be the best people they can be.”
UnitedHealthcare is the overarching presenting partner of the Dallas Cowboys community outreach efforts. They are dedicated to helping people nationwide live healthier lives through a full spectrum of health benefit programs for individuals, employers, military service members, retirees and their families.
The Dreambuilders Foundation is a non-profit organization that works with pro athletes across the country to help financially, physically and mentally-challenged youth receive the items, opportunities and equipment that they need to reach their dreams.
In addition to his work with Dreambuilders, Crawford works on various anti-bullying programs, serves as a Chocolate Milk Refuel ambassador for Dairy MAX, hosts numerous youth football camps that focus on character and hardwork and supports team outreach activities for The Salvation Army, UnitedWay Character Playbook and more.
